ISLAMABAD, June 28: The capital police arrested 23 proclaimed offenders and court absconders during last one week.

A spokesman for the police said on Tuesday that Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin directed all the station house officers to arrest the proclaimed offenders as their performance would be reviewed in this regard on weekly basis.

In response to the directions, five proclaimed offenders, 18 court absconders were arrested during last week.

Meanwhile, the capital police on Tuesday arrested 10 suspects and recovered wine, narcotics and weapons from them.

The Aabpara police arrested five suspects during search operation in the area. They were taken into custody on their failure to prove their identity. The Secretariat police arrested a bootlegger and recovered 32 bottles of wine from him. Similarly, the Tarnol police arrested three persons including a woman after the recovery of a 32-bore pistol, 400gram heroin and 630gram opium from them during search.

The Sabzi Mandi police also arrested a person for possessing a 30-bore pistol.

Separate cases were registered against them with police stations concerned and investigations were in progress.
