BAHAWALPUR, Nov 14: People’s Party central acting general secretary Raza Rabbani and Punjab president Qasim zia have demanded withdrawal of all cases against PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto instituted against her by the deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

They were addressing a press conference and later High Court Bar Association here on Wednesday prior to their departure for Multan.

They asserted that the reference against Ms Bhutto were political victimization.

They demanded that accountability process initiated by the previous government should be stopped and an independent accountability commission should be set up to take the accountability process in a transparent manner.

They denied that the PPP was close to any deal with the government and added that such political parties which have no roots in the masses, struck such deals with the government.

They admitted that PPP’s leaders committed mistakes and said they would not repeat the same mistakes in the future.

Replying to a question, they denied that they were ‘B’ team of the government.

They demanded that ban on political activities should be lifted.

Later, addressing a PPP workers convention in the night, Qasim Zia said workers were in fact the asset of the party and the loyal and sincere workers would be given due status in the party.

He said party’s district bodies would be reactivated and directed to start mass campaign.

Earlier, office-bearers of the three districts of Bahawalpur division criticized the party leadership for ignoring the workers during PPP’s rule. However, the workers in their speeches reposed confidence in leadership of Ms Bhutto.
