ISLAMABAD, Nov 14: A high-level meeting held at the General Headquarters on Wednesday reviewed water availability situation during the current Rabi crop.

The meeting was presided over by Maj-Gen Jameel-ur-Rehman Afiridi and attended by irrigation secretaries of Balochistan and Sindh, representatives of Punjab and the NWFP, Chairman Indus River System Authority, Chief Engineering Adviser Federal Flood Commission and other officials concerned, a source said. The meeting also reviewed the contingency plans in case of floods during the winters, the source said.

A Met department official apprised the meeting of the prospects of rains in the coming winter season.

Chairman Irsa informed the meeting that they had already annulled the decision taken by an inter-ministerial committee in 1994.
