Driver burnt alive

CHAKWAL, June 17: A driver was burnt alive when his vehicle caught fire after colliding with another vehicle, sources said on Friday.

Talat Mehmood, a Suzuki driver, was going to his village Neela when his van collided with a passenger van coming from the opposite side. Both the vehicles caught fire. However, the passengers remained unhurt but Talat who got stuck in the vehicle was burnt alive. The driver of the van, Mohammad Toseef, also received serious burn injuries. —Correspondent

Man dies of injuries

ISLAMABAD, June 17: A shopkeeper died on Friday after he was injured during a robbery at F-10 Markaz on Thursday night, police said.

Mohammad Rafiq was a cashier at Saeed Sweets, where a man, wearing burqa, came and held him up at gunpoint. When Rafiq put up resistance the man fired two bullets in his chest and ran away.

He was shifted to the hospital where he was operated upon to remove the bullet and kept under the observation. But he died in the morning. — Staff Reporter

ATTOCK, June 17: A person was shot dead by his three rivals over enmity in Raidita village of Fatehjang police station.

Police said on Friday that a labourer, Noor Gohar, was shot dead allegedly by his three rivals — Ishtiaq, Faraz and Javed — on Thursday evening.

Meanwhile, a teenage boy, Mohammad Anis, drowned in a nullah near Jand on Thursday evening. — Correspondent

Dreaded criminal shot dead

TAXILA, June 17: A notorious criminal was shot dead by his rivals in Budhho village in the jurisdiction of Wah Cantonment police station on Friday.

Police sources said that Ghulam Qadir was a hired assassin and wanted in a number of murder cases by the police of different districts. He had also been declared proclaimed offender (PO) by the court. The sources said that Ghulam Qadir was going to Budhho village when his rivals opened fire at him killing him on the spot. A passerby later identified as Khalid Mehmood was also injured in the indiscriminate firing and shifted to the local hospital in critical condition. Wah Cantonment police registered a case and started further investigation. —Correspondent

Man found hanging

CHAKWAL, June 17: A young man was found hanging from a tree on Friday. Sources said that Mohammad Kamran, 25, a resident of Sutwal village was in distress due to domestic problems.

He disappeared from his house on Thursday evening. On Friday, his relatives found him hanging with a tree in the nearby fields. —Correspondent
