ISLAMABAD, June 17: The capital police arrested 16 proclaimed offenders (POs) involved in heinous crimes during last four days in its special crackdown against the outlaws.

A police spokesman said on Friday that acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan directed all the SDPOs and SHOs to launch a crackdown against the proclaimed offenders and court absconders. Acting on the directions, the police officials succeeded in arresting 16 POs.

The Kohsar police and Bhara Kahu police arrested one PO each, Margalla police arrested three POs, Tarnol and Golra police arrested one PO each, Shahzad Town police arrested three court absconders while Nilor and Koral police arrested two court absconders each.

Meanwhile, the Tarnol police arrested a woman for her alleged involvement in drug peddling and recovered 2.4kg hashish from her. The Sihala police arrested an accused and recovered 300gram hashish from him.

The women police arrested a female for her alleged involvement in theft and recovered stolen goods worth Rs150,000 from her.
