LAHORE, June 9: A newly-wed girl was shot dead allegedly by her uncle for ‘honour’ near Bagrian Chowk in Green Town here on Thursday.

The police said 22-year-old Neelam, who contracted marriage with Tanveer some two months ago, was present at her parents’ house when her uncle, Zulfikar, came there and shot her dead. The accused suspected that his niece had relations with a neighbour.

The police have registered a case against the absconder on Tanveer’s complaint and handed over the body to the family after an autopsy.

Shahdara police said 26-year-old Faisal Imran was stabbed to death allegedly by his father, Mushtaq Husain, in Yousaf Park.

The police said Mushtaq killed his son after the victim abused his father for reprimanding him. Imran was jobless and his father used to snub him.

The police registered a case against Mushtaq.

BODY FOUND: Baghban-pura police recovered the body of a UK-returned man from his relative’s house near Dhobi Ghat Stop on Thursday.

The police suspected that Nadeem, who returned to Pakistan a couple of months ago, was murdered as investigators found marks of bruises on his body. Police suspected that some unidentified people killed him after administering him some poisonous substance.
