KARACHI, Oct 24: Faculties lifted the Karachi University Inter-collegiate athletics championship while Tariq Ali Gujar of the same institution was declared the best athlete of the two-day meet which ended Thursday.

With 128 points Faculties edged out Government Commerce College who garnered 81 points. Government Islamia Science College finished in third place with 39 points.

There was a three-way for the best athlete with Tariq, M.Imran and M.Abbas both of Government Commerce College secured 19 points but the award went to the former due to his record-breaking feat in high jump.

Tariq created a new high jump record as he cleared 1.84 metres bettering the long-standing mark of 1.82 metres established by NED College’s Noor-ul-Hasan in 1975.
