RAWALPINDI, Oct 24: Mutahidda Majlis-i-Amal has called upon the authorities to announce local government elections in cantonment areas as early as possible.

The general elections have taken place but local government elections in the cantonment areas are still in vague, said the MMA leaders. They have urged the government to provide residents of cantonment areas with their right to elect their representatives.

The MMA leaders also announced that the religious parties alliance would also take full participation in the local government elections. The Jamat-i-Islami cantonment amir, Chaudhry Raza Muhammad advised the alliance workers to start preparations for the local government polls and launch a full- fledged mass-contact campaign.
