PESHAWAR, Nov 14: The Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (Rawa) has called upon the United Nations to send its peace-keeping force to Afghanistan before the Northern Alliance could “repeat the unforgettable crimes they committed in the past.”

In a press release, issued here on Wednesday, a Rawa spokesperson said the UN should have withdrawn its recognition to the so-called Islamic government headed by Rabbani and helped establish a broad-based government based on democratic values.

The association urged the world to understand that the Northern Alliance comprised the same bands who, it added, had shown their criminal and inhuman nature when they had ruled the country from 1992 till 1996.

The spokesperson said the retreat of the “terrorist” Taliban from Kabul was a positive development, but entry of the “rapist and looter” Northern Alliance into the city was nothing but a dreadful and shocking news for about two million residents of Kabul.

Thousands of people, who fled Kabul during the past two months, are reported to have been expressing fears that the Northern Alliance might take over power in Kabul.

Rawa feared that the Northern Alliance would intensify ethnic and religious conflicts and could begin another brutal and endless civil war in order to remain in power.
