Samiul Haq, Azam Tariq detained

RAWALPINDI, Oct 8: Personnel of some intelligence agencies on Monday arrested Maulana Samiul Haq, head of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, at the Islamabad airport and took him to some unknown destination, an official said.

Maulana Haq was arrested at 4.40pm after he arrived from Lahore on a PIA flight, the source said.

He was kept in custody by the officials of a top security agency at the airport for about an hour before being driven in a car (IDG-7537), the official said.

SSP chief: Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan chief Maulana Azam Tariq was detained at Lahore airport on Monday and later driven to his native town in Jhang to be kept there under house arrest for one month, adds our reporter from Lahore.
