HYDERABAD, May 30: Mir Ali Talpur claimed seven wickets before Zahid Khan struck an unbeaten 176 to put Hyderabad in a commanding position on the opening day of the three-day match against Badin in the PCB Inter-district Senior cricket tournament at the Niaz Stadium on Monday.

Badin, batting first, were dismissed for 112 in 27.5 over with Kamran Nizamani scoring 42. Hyderabad skipper Mir Ali Talpur was the wrecker-in-chief with figures of 7-51.

When stumps were drawn for the day Hyderabad had amassed 353-6 with Zahid striking 21 fours and two sixes in his undefeated knock. He was ably supported by Mohammad Qazafi (45), Mohammad Owais (45) and Azeem Ghumman (32).

For Badin, spinner Aslam Sattar took 3-90.
