ISLAMABAD, Oct 23: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday formally approved the establishment of grand wholesale meat market at G-10 Markaz.

The approval in this respect was given at the CDA board meeting, on the request of Al-Quresh Meet Sellers Association (AQMSA), Islamabad.

The authority has also approved a separate slaughterhouse for sheep and goats on the premises of CDA’s main slaughterhouse at Sihala.

A CDA official said some months ago, the association had asked the CDA to establish a separate slaughterhouse in the urban area of Islamabad so that illegal slaughterhouses could be stopped.

He said a number of illegal slaughterhouses were being run in the city, where animals were slaughtered unhygienically and the meat was sold without medical inspection.

The CDA will provide four kanals of land for the meat market. However, shops would be constructed by the meat sellers.

The meeting also gave approval for auctioning 40 commercial plots worth millions of rupees located at Mauve Area G-9.

It also gave approval for providing a plot to Immigration Office at G-9 area on present market rate.

The board directed the official concerned to look into the matter of agro plot leasing as lease of most of the agro plots have ended.

The meeting also decided to conduct a comprehensive survey of Kutcha houses in Islamabad so that an operation could be launched to remove them.

APP ADDS: The CDA has proposed to constitute a citizen committees on environment to solve environmental issues of the Capital.

According to sources, the authority has made this proposal in order to maintain environmental condition of the Capital.

They said the committees would be constituted on sector basis and will play the role of mediator between CDA and public to ensure clean and healthy environment in the city.

The committees will also be responsible to analyze the surroundings of the city on regular basis in view of keeping the rural and urban areas of the Capital pollution-free.
