Identical wins for KPT, Sui Gas

KARACHI, Oct 22: Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Sui Gas scored identical victories in the Kardar Trophy matches which ended Tuesday.

KPT defeated Pakistan Air Force by 10 wickets at National Stadium while Sui Gas also achieved a similar result against Navy at KCCA Stadium.

Our Sports Reporter adds from Rawalpindi: ARL collected their first points in the tournament with a convincing nine-wicket win over Pakistan Television.

Resuming at the overnight eight without loss, PTV were bundled out for 175 on the last day of the three-day match with left-arm spinner Alamgir Khan grabbing six for 71 at ARL Ground.

The victory earned ARL full 12 points — their first points from three games.

ARL, who got a substantial first innings lead of 107 runs, then wiped out the required victory target of 69 runs for the loss of one wicket. Captain Abad Mohammad led from the front and remained unbeaten on 46 runs as ARL finished off the match shortly after tea.

Army escaped with a draw at Pindi Club Ground after Shiraz Khalid hit 94 against PTCL. Ajmal Shah remained unbeaten with 60.

Off-spinner Jawwad Hameed returned match haul of nine for 128 in 61 overs.
