SWABI, March 20: A court of judicial magistrate here on Friday remanded a sub-inspector and two constables of Punjab police into police custody for allegedly killing the son of a police inspector in Chota Lahore a day before.

Dawood Khan, the inspector, registered an FIR at Chota Lahor city police station that he found his son, Safdar Khan, in a pool of blood in the factory area near Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway, while his nephew Muzamil Khan was missing.

The same day (Thursday) there were reports that officials of Punjab police had conducted a raid without informing the Swabi district police. The Chota Lahor police arrested plain-clothed sub-inspector Asif Ali and constables Mohammad Sajjad and Mohammad Irfan in the case.

The accused told the police that Safdar Khan was wanted to the Punjab police in various cases.

However, Mr Dawood said that no case was registered against his son in Punjab or elsewhere in the country. He also identified the accused and nominated them in the case of his son's killing.

The police have registered an FIR against the three officials under Section 302 and 34 and have recovered a Kalashnikov and pistol from their custody.

Judicial magistrate Asim Khan gave the accused officials into police custody on three-day remand. FOUND DEAD:

The body of a four-year-old child, who went missing on Tuesday last, was found in a bag in an abandoned house at Wakil Colony of Topi city on Friday.

Ahmad Ali, son of Fayazur Rehman, who works as stenographer at a civil judge court, went missing from his house on May 17. After hectic search the family found his body on Friday. District police officer visited the Topi police station and formed a three-member committee to investigate the case. DESECRATION:

Swabi Bar Association (SBA) on Friday held a protest demonstration against the burning of copies of the Holy Quran by unidentified persons, demanding the police to immediately arrest the culprits.

SBA president Ahmad Ali led the protest. Later, he told media persons that those found involved in the desecration should be awarded exemplary punishment.

“The people who desecrated the Holy Quran of a religious institution at Mottikhel Mohllah of Maneri Payan a few days back, are not Muslims,” he said and added that the district police should investigate the matter and trace the criminals.

Besides, The SBA also announced a one-day boycott of courts on Saturday (today) while demanding transfer of the district and sessions judge, Swabi.

In a related development, the JI and JUI-F leaders called off their protest march, which they had planned to hold on Friday against the desecration of the Holy Quran, after assurance by the police that those behind the desecration incident would be arrested within a week.

Islahi jirga of Maneri Payan has also expressed deep anguish over the incident and demanded police action against the criminals.
