Man drowns
ATTOCK, May 18: A man was drowned in Indus River near Mukhad village of Injra police station on Tuesday.
Hafiz Mohammad Imran, resident of Surg village, went to the river with his friends. When he jumped into the river, he was swept away.
Soon after the incident, the local divers started search of the body but were unable to find it till the filing of this report.— Correspondent
Defaulters’ shops to be sealed
RAWALPINDI, May 18: The taxation branch of the Rawal Town Municipal Administration (RTMA) was directed to seal the shops of those tenants who failed to deposit the annual rent by May 25.
Rawal Town Administrator Saif Anwar Jappa issued these directives while reviewing the recovery campaign of the RTMA in 46 union councils during a meeting held here on Wednesday. The meeting was informed by the RTMA officials that the rent of 2,400 shops amounting to Rs15 million was outstanding. However, the RTMA had managed to recover Rs3 million of the outstanding amount till date.
Upon this, the administrator asked the taxation branch to launch a campaign against the defaulters and seal the shops of those tenants who did not deposit their dues by the 25th. — A Reporter
Capital punishment awarded
CHAKWAL, May 18: A man was awarded capital punishment by additional district and session judge on Wednesday.
Tariq Hussain, Mohammad Iqbal, Manzoor Hussain, Adeel Iqbal and Tasaddaq Hussain, residents of Kahoot village of tehsil Kallar Kahar, gunned down three persons on May 28, 2009. On Wednesday, Additional District and Sessions Judge Nisar Baig sentenced culprit Tariq Hussain to death and awarded life term to Mohammad Iqbal and Manzoor Hussain.
The court jailed other two culprits Adeel Iqbal and Tasaddaq Hussain for fifteen years. — Correspondent
