HYDERABAD, Oct 21: The Hyderabad Union of Journalists (HUJ) and the Hyderabad Press Club (HPC) have condemned the murder of a correspondent of Kawish, Shahid Soomro, in Kandhkot.

In separate statements issued here on Monday, HUJ president Hamid Shaikh and general secretary Altaf Koti, and HPC president Lala Rehman Samoon, general secretary Ansar Naqvi and joint secretary Junaid Khanzada termed it an attack on the freedom of the press.

They demanded of the president, interior minister, Sindh governor, Sindh IGP and other authorities concerned to order immediate arrest of the killers of the journalist.

SPLA: The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) at a meeting held here on Monday, also condemned the murder of Shahid Soomro.

The meeting expressed solidarity with newsmen and appealed to the Sindh governor and the chief secretary to order the arrest of the killers and award them punishment.

Prof Liaquat Aziz presided over the meeting.
