While in Chile, police threw tear gas in Santiago, during a protest against a project to build several hydroelectric power stations in the Chilean Patagonia, on May 13, 2011. A controversial $3.2 billion hydroelectric project was billed as key to satisfying Chile's growing energy needs but potentially an environmental concern.
