LAKKI MARWAT, May 11: Tehsil municipal administration on Wednesday sealed four beverage factories for preparing and selling substandard soft drinks.

An official said District Coordination Officer, Mohammad Ayyaz Mandokhel, had received complaints about the presence of unauthorised soda water factories in the district which were involved in the illegal business of preparing and selling low quality drinks in the market.

The official said the sale of low quality drinks was causing throat, chest and other dangerous diseases mostly among children.

“Acting on public complaints the DCO directed the Lakki and Naurang TMAs to launch a crackdown on such factories”, the official maintained.

He said a team of Lakki TMA headed by tehsil officer regulation, Sabz Ali Khan, launched action against the beverage factories and sealed four of them in the urban locality.

Traffic wardens served challans on bike riders for not possessing relevant documents and impounded their bikes.

Following the instructions of DPO Gul Wali Khan Mohmand, traffic police launched a special drive against the unregistered motorcycles in the district”, said an official on Wednesday. He said during the drive the wardens issued tickets to 40 bike riders and impounded their bikes as well.

“The motorcyclists did not possess registration documents nor their bikes had number plates”, official maintained, saying, the district police also planned to launch action against showroom owners for not providing complete documents to those who bought motorcycles from them.
