MMA urged to form govts in provinces

Published October 21, 2002

SWABI, Oct 20: A former Awami National Party (ANP) MNA, Haji Rehmanullah, and three MPAs-elect of the party from Swabi said on Sunday that the ANP would welcome the formation of governments by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) in the Frontier and Balochistan provinces.

Speaking to newsmen here, they urged the MMA to form governments in the two provinces.

Amer Rehman, who was nominated as the parliamentary secretary of the ANP in the NWFP Assembly, said the real test of the MMA had just started.

The MPAs-elect on this occasion said their party would continue to stick to its demand of renaming the NWFP as Pakhtoonkhwa. The ANP would work for the provincial autonomy, they added.

They said the ANP leadership had accepted the election results and did not indulge in levelling allegations of rigging.
