LAHORE, May 9: Additional IG Malik Ahmad Raza Tahir assumed the charge of Capital City Police Officer here on Monday, sending a message to the world of criminals for his 'aggressive' policing involving police encounters.
Mr Tahir, who was earlier working as Gujranwala Regional Police Officer, held his maiden meeting with officers of operations, investigation and traffic wings and elaborated his priorities.
He emphasized upon the team work for the elimination of terrorism and crimes of heinous nature, saying separate police teams would be constituted which would submit their daily performance reports.
He called the SPs for preparing a list of top 10 proclaimed offenders and missing gang members of each city police station within a week so that a legal action could be taken against them.
Meanwhile, CCPO Malik Ahmad Raza Tahir proceeded on a week leave for 'Umra'. He will resume the charge after May 16.
During his tenure as the Lahore Senior Superintendent of Police in 1997-98, not less than 50 suspects were killed in alleged police encounters, including the famous Sabzazar police encounter and the killing of Tahir Prince in a 'planned' encounter.
