Boy dies in cylinder blast

KARACHI, Oct 20: A 12-year-old boy died in a cylinder blast in Korangi on Sunday.

Police said that Rizwan working as a labourer in a workshop in Korangi was seriously injured when a welding gas cylinder exploded. He was rushed to the JPMC where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Two young man who had suffered food poisoning died in the JPMC. Sources at the hospital said Jamshed, aged 22, and Azhar Ali, aged 34, were residents of PIB Colony and Civil Lines, respectively.

FIRE: A big fire broke in a factory, Prime Safety Ltd, in Landhi Export Processing Zone on Sunday.

A spokesman for the fire department said that the fire started around 11:30am in a yarn godown where raw material was also stored.

Nineteen fire tenders were pressed into service to put out the fire. The fire was completely put out by five in the evening.

The fire department had not ascertained the cause of the fire and the extent of damage till our going to press.
