HYDERABAD, Oct 18: The Sindh Culture and Development Committee has decided to oppose the proposed merger of the provincial Archives Department with the Information Department.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the committee held here the other day.

The meeting observed that the proposal was harmful and ill- considered, and demanded that the Archives Department should be maintained as a part of the Culture department as was the practice in vogue in the other provinces.

The meeting was presided over by Rasool Bux Palejo and attended by Dr. G.A. Allana, Hameed Sindhi, Wali Ram Walabh, Inayatullah Baloch and Agha Shahabuddin.

It constituted a sub-committee, comprising Dr Allana, Sindhi and Walabh to finalize terms of reference of the committee and submit them in the meeting of the committee on Oct 23.
