LAHORE, April 25: A judicial magistrate at Model Town courts on Monday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for two doctors of Doctors Hospital involved in the Imanae Malik death case.

Magistrate Sahir Islam issued the order when counsel for Imanae’s father pleaded that despite the lapse of considerable time police had failed in arresting the two nominated doctors/accused -- Dr Ghazanfar Ali Shah and Dr Javed Asghar --- nor they appeared before the court on their own.

Issuing the warrants, the magistrate directed the police to produce them on May 13.

The magistrate is holding the trial of the case registered with Johar Town police on Nov 28, 2010.

Earlier on May 19, 2010, charges had been framed against Dr Sanaullah, Ziaul Hassan Bokhari and Mst Fahmida Sanaullah.

The three-year old Imanae Malik was taken to the Doctors Hospital last year with minor burns on her hand where doctors administered here three injections of high potency anesthesia which caused her death. Former LHC chief justice Khawaja Muhammad had also taken suo motu notice of the case and ordered the police to add section 302 of the PPC in the FIR.

He prayed to the court to take notice of the matter and exposed the hidden elements behind the criminal act.
