DHQ hospitals to be upgraded

PESHAWAR, Oct 17: Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has said that the government is trying its best to facilitate the people, specially in the health sector.

He was speaking to the people at the inauguration of a two- week free eye camp in Hangu on Thursday. The camp was arranged by a Pakistani eye-specialist serving in the USA, Dr Mohammed Rafiq Jan.

The governor said that the present government had been striving to put things on the right path. The government had therefore allocated more than one billion rupees for the upgradation of the district headquarters hospitals during the current fiscal year, he claimed.

He said that the DHQ hospitals at Hangu , Dir and Shangla were being equipped and the funds had been released.

Highlighting the importance of the quality education, he said that it would not only help the country to have good citizens but also better human resources would be produced in abundance.

He regretted that due to lack of proper education Pakistanis were far behind than the other nations and were therefore not having good job offers from abroad.

Mr Iftikhar said that it was the reason that the government was encouraging the private sector to step forward and promote technical and quality education.

The governor said that investors were also being encouraged to invest in the irrigation sector in the province as thousands of acres of land was lying barren in the southern districts. It would certainly accelerate economic activities, he added.

The governor welcomed a proposal for establishment of a private eye hospital in the district and assured every possible help.
