KARACHI, April 18: The administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts in Karachi remanded four suspects in judicial custody till April 25 in the murder case of a television journalist.
The police produced the four suspects — Faisal Mahmood alias Nafsiati, Syed Mohammad Ali Rizvi, Naveed alias Polka and Shakil alias Malik — before the administrative judge, Justice Maqbool Baqar of the Sindh High Court, informing him that the fifth suspect, Shahrukh alias Mani, had already been sent to prison by a judicial magistrate after recording his confessional statement under Section 164 of the criminal procedure code.The administrative judge sent the four suspects to prison on judicial remand and directed the investigation officer of the case to submit a charge-sheet on the next hearing.
According to the prosecution, Wali Khan Babar, a repsorter of a private TV channel, was gunned down on Jan 13, 2011 in a Liaquatabad area.
The police said that the suspects were arrested during a search of vehicles in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on April 7 and claimed that during initial investigations they disclosed that they along with their accomplices had allegedly killed the journalist.
A case (FIR No 8/11) was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Later, Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 was also incorporated in the FIR.
Bail plea dismissed A special court for Control of Narcotics Substance (CNS) on Monday dismissed the bail application of a man allegedly involved in a narcotics case.

The suspect through his lawyer moved the bail application and the Judge Sanaullah Khan Ghoury of the Special CNS Court-II dismissed the same after hearing both sides.
According to the prosecution, acting on a tip-off the police arrested the suspect on March 14, 2011 within the remit of the Shahrah-i-Noor Jehan police station and found 1,160 grams of hashish in his possession.
A case (FIR 129/11) was registered against him under Section 9-C of the CNS Act, 1997.
22 Indian fishermen sent to jail A magistrate has remanded 22 Indian fishermen in judicial custody for fishing unlawfully in Pakistani waters.
The Maritime Security Agency had apprehended the fishermen along with their seven fishing boats for illegally fishing inside the Exclusive Economic Zone of Pakistan and handed them over to the Docks police.
They were produced before a judicial magistrate (west), who sent them to prison on fourteen-day judicial remand.
