Three injured in fireworks blast

FAISALABAD, Oct 16: Three members of a family, including two children, were injured in a fireworks blast in Bawa Chak here on Wednesday.

Rasheed was preparing fireworks when they caught fire. The fire engulfed the house as a result of which Rasheed and his two children — Asif, 6, and Amina, 4 — sustained serious burn injuries. The injured were taken to the Allied Hospital.

The ban on sale, display and use of fireworks is being flouted in the city. Citizens have demanded the governor to direct police highups for a stern action against violators.

SUICIDE: A woman committed suicide by taking poison in Chak 382-GB here on Wednesday.

Niaz Bibi took poison following a quarrel with her husband over some financial problems. She died on way to hospital.

CRUSHED: A labourer was crushed to death by a truck on the Faisalabad-Sheikhupura Road on Wednesday.

Yaseen was on his way home when a speeding truck knocked him down. He sustained serious injuries and died on the spot.
