Farm graduates among new patwaris

MULTAN, Oct 16: Post graduates, graduates and agricultural graduates are among the newly-appointed patwaris in the Multan district.

This was disclosed by the Multan DCO here on Wednesday at a ceremony to hand over appointment letters to patwaris. The DCO claimed that all the appointments were made on merit.

He said the status of a patwari and a police SHO was the same in rural areas.

It may be mentioned that the basic qualification for the grade-V job of patwari is matric with a certificate from the Patwar School. The patwari enjoys enormous powers in the matters of the revenue collection and land record which has made the job so lucrative especially in the rural areas.

SME DEFAULTERS: The Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Bank has to recover Rs1.75 billion from 10,000 defaulters in the Multan region.

According to the bank press note, the defaulters are unmoved to retire their respective debts despite being served several notices. Therefore, the bank is going to launch an extensive campaign to arrest the chronic defaulters.

The note further states that prominent among the defaulters are ex-MNA Haji Muhammad Boota and Nishter Hospital’s Dr Haneef who owe Rs3 million and Rs4 million, respectively.

Meanwhile, the SME bank has also launched a project for export financing under which a person or a firm can obtain a loan of up to Rs5 million. The bank has announced that the procedure and terms and conditions have been simplified to facilitate the applicants in the shortest possible time. — Correspondent
