SHIKARPUR, Oct 16: A passenger was killed and 15 others were injured in an accident when a wagon (R-0076) overturned on the Shikarpur-Larkana Road near Dakhan Town on Wednesday.
Three of the injured, including the wagon driver, Mir Mohammad Bhatti, were rushed to a Larkana hospital in a critical condition, where one of them, Naseer Chandio, succumbed to his injuries.
Nine of the injured were admitted at the Dakhan hospital for medical treatment, while the other three were discharged after providing them first aid.
The Dakhan police have registered a case.
WORKSHOP: A one-day workshop on “women’s health management” was organized at the Gymkhana Hall by the Women’s Health Project (WHP), Sindh, on Wednesday.
Dr Asmat Aziz, health education consultant of the WHP, Islamabad, Dr Tariq Azeem, chief technical advisor of the WHP, and Dr Naheed Jamali, the deputy project director, WHP Sindh, delivered lectures on different aspects of the women’s health management including women’s health indicators, women’s health facilities, and development of the district health management to ensure women’s health, etc.
Briefing about the objectives of the WHP and the district health management, Dr Naheed Jamali informed that the project had been initiated with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank in all provinces of the country, with specific objectives to make the basic health services more accessible to the women and to develop district healthcare system for the women in all the districts of Sindh, ensuring quality healthcare to women, including emergency obstetric care, family planning, establishment of appropriate referral system, and to strengthen the institutional and human resources capacity.
The district Nazim, Shikarpur, Mohammad Arif Khan Mehar, was the chief guest on the occasion.
He lauded the programme and emphasized the need for motivating the community and the NGOs to create awareness among the people through organizing such workshops.
