LAHORE, Oct 15: Top professionals of the country are expected to participate in the All-Pakistan Garrison Open golf championship to be held at the Lahore Garrison course from Oct 18 to 20.

Some sixty professional and about 100 amateurs have sent in their entries for the competition which carries a total cash prize of Rs 200,000 to be distributed among the top 30 winners. The winner will pocket Rs 34,590 while runners up will receive Rs 22,660.

Prominent among the professionals participating are Imdad Hussain, Matloob Ahmed, Shabir Iqbal, Muhammad Akram while Muhammad Munir is the defending champion.

In the amateur event, Tariq Mahmood, Shahid Javed Khan, Javed A Khan, Dr Aimal Zaman and Dr Zahid A Khan are the notable golfers.

Besides the professionals and amateurs, contests for seniors professional, seniors (55-64 years), veterans (above 64 years, nine holes on Oct 20), subsidiary 18 holes on Oct 19 with handicap 13 to 18, two-day ladies with handicap 36 and below and juniors (age upto 15 years, nine holes on Oct 19) will also be held.

Special prizes will also be offered to golfers who will have maximum birdies and maximum eagles. A car for Hole-in-One is also on offer.
