Sajid ready to attend MMA meeting

LAHORE, Oct 15: Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith leader Prof Sajid Mir has agreed to participate in the summit meeting of the component parties of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal scheduled to be held in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Prof Mir, who is also vice-president of the MMA, expressed his willingness to attend the meeting during a meeting at his residence with Jamaat-i-Islami leader Qazi Hussain Ahmad here on Tuesday.

Prof Mir, a long time ally of exiled PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, had developed differences with other MMA components on the question of electoral adjustments with the PML-N.

In a post-election statement, he had also been quoted by his party leaders to have dubbed the “mandate” obtained by the alliance of religious parties in the Oct 10 as bogus. He was quoted to have stated that the MMA was given the heavy mandate to create political instability in country through a hung parliament.
