Published November 14, 2001

RAWALPINDI, Nov 13: An accountability Court adjourned the hearing of a corruption reference against former Punjab Chief Minister Manzoor Wattoo here on Tuesday.

The court had recorded the statement of the Chief Pilot, Punjab government, Col Saleem, who appeared as prosecution witness in the case against Mr Wattoo on the last hearing.

The defence lawyer, Baber Awan, had also completed the cross-examination of the prosecution witness, in the Accountability Court No I headed by Judge Rustam Ali Malik.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has alleged that the former chief minister was involved in the misappropriation of funds in the purchase of an aircraft for the Punjab government during his tenure.

The accused has already been convicted by an accountability court of Lahore and was now serving his sentence in a Lahore jail.—APP
