KOHAT, April 7: At least six militants were killed when security forces pounded their hideouts with artillery shelling in Darra Adamkhel on Thursday.

Sources said that artillery unit of army pounded a frequented route of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan in Bulandra area of Darra Adamkhel, adjacent to Orakzai Agency. They said that shelling continued for several hours.

Officials claimed that six militants were killed in the shelling but their bodies were taken away by their colleagues. However, independent sources didn’t confirm the claim of officials.

Meanwhile, two tribesmen were injured when militants fired rockets from Darra Adamkhel at a funeral in Frontier Region of Kohat on Thursday.

Militants fired two rockets at a funeral in Jammu area of Jawaki village in FR Kohat in retaliation to artillery shelling on their hideouts.

Naseem Khan and Amanullah were seriously injured in the rocket attack. They were shifted to KDA divisional headquarters hospital for treatment.

The local tribal volunteers had taken positions near the mountains from where the rockets were fired and increased patrolling. They issued warnings to residents of the area, asking them to remain alert during the night to avert any untoward incident.
