LAHORE, April 2: An additional district and sessions judge on Saturday summoned the Naseerabad station house officer on April 9 on a petition seeking registration of murder cases against office-bearers of the Young Doctors Association (YDA). Advocate Ishtiaq Ahmad Chaudhry filed the petition submitting that dozens of patients, including children, had lost their lives due to doctors’ strike. He said the doctors on the call of YDA had been observing a baseless strike in violation of constitution.

He pleaded since the illegal strike of the doctors had caused deaths of innocent people, they were liable to be booked under murder charges.

He said an application for registration of murder cases against the doctors was filed with the Naseerabad police station but the SHO did not entertain them.

AD&SJ Ameer Muhammad Khan issued notice to the Naseerabad SHO.

CM’s reception: An application was moved in the Lahore High Court on Saturday to suspend a reception arranged by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in honour of the Pakistan cricket team.

Muhammad Iftikhar Husain Rajpoot filed the application through his counsel Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaffrey and requested that the chief minister should be stopped from hosting the reception.

The applicant said the party would cost about Rs3 million to the exchequer. He said if the chief minister wanted to hold the reception and give prizes to cricketers, he should do all this from his own pocket.

He said the party was scheduled for April 5 wherein not only cricketers but also close friends of the chief minister had been invited.

He said the chief minister announced the party to give cash awards to players only to gain media projection at the cost exchequer.

He requested the court to restrain the chief minister from hosting the reception and declare his act illegal.
