KARACHI, April 1: A judicial magistrate on Friday remanded a policeman in jail custody in a drug trafficking case.

Moosa Khan was arrested for allegedly supplying hashish and other drugs to undertrial prisoners at the city courts on Thursday.

The police produced the suspect before a judicial magistrate (south), who remanded him in jail custody till April 14 and directed the investigation officer to submit a charge-sheet.

According to the prosecution, the suspect was a police constable and posted at the city courts police station and was held for allegedly supplying hashish and other narcotics to UTPs at the city courts.

Around 10 grams of hashish and tranquillisers were found in the possession of the suspect, it added.

A case (FIR No.38/11) was registered under the Control of Narcotics Substance Act 1997 at the city courts police station.

Meanwhile, a labour court on Friday issued notices to the management of a private company for dismissing an employee from service.

The applicant, Mohammad Arif, through his lawyer filed an application under Section 41 of the Industrial Relations (Revival & Amendment) Act 2010 and contended that he was an employee of the private company but the management framed him in a criminal case and dismissed him from service in January this year since he created awareness among his colleagues of their labour rights and tried to form a labour union in the company.

The judge of the labour court-I, Shahnawaz Tariq, issued notices to the management of the company with the direction to submit its reply till April 11.
