Talking to media persons, the EDO said that some teachers had been deputed by his subordinate officers to schools of their choice without his consent.

He asked the teachers to ensure their presence at original stations of their duty otherwise disciplinary action would be taken against them. The EDO said that literacy rate had been improving in the district as 9,358 students were enrolled in primary schools last year while the target for the current year was 6,000 students.

He said that all the students would be provided free textbooks by the government while the girl students would also receive a scholarship of Rs200 a month.

OWNERSHIP RIGHTS: The government employees in Lower Dir on Wednesday demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and Peshawar Development Authority to give them ownership rights of their plots for construction of houses in the Regi Lalma Township.

Talking to local journalists at the Timergara Press Club, district president of the All Clerks Association Mohammad Shair Tajak, its general secretary Muhammad Salim, teachers’ representative Alam Zeb Khan and others complained that despite paying all the installments they had not been given possession of their plots.

They said the Regi Lalma Township scheme was introduced in 2002 for the government employees of the province. They said that the successful employees had paid millions of rupees up to 2006 in monthly installments to the PDA through the Khyber Bank.

They said that the unnecessary delay in giving them ownership rights was creating great unrest and doubts among the government employees.

They have demanded of the provincial local governments minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour, PDA director general and other authorities concerned to take notice of the delay and issue directives for provision of plots to the employees so they could start construction of houses.
