QUETTA, March 23: Saleem Shahid and Abdul Khaliq were elected president and general secretary of the Quetta Press Club, respectively, for the 2011-13 term here on Wednesday.

Election committee chairman Nadir Chilgari and members Zamir Ali and Nusratullah Baloch oversaw the voting process that continued between 11am and 5pm.

Yaqoob Shahwani was elected senior vice president, Jalal Nurzai junior president, Arif Mahmood senior joint secretary, Shah Muhammad joint secretary and Rashid Butt was elected treasurer. An eight-member executive committee was also voted to office.
