LAHORE, March 15: Two motorcyclists allegedly gunned down a sugar mill owner in Gulberg on Tuesday.

Shakil Bhatti, managing director of Chishtian Sugar Mills, was buying furniture from a shop on Ghalib Road when the assailants barged in, held all customers hostage, fired shots at Bhatti and fled.

Model Town SP (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf told Dawn that Bhatti was shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. He said initial investigations showed Bhatti had enmity with someone.

He said Bhatti's family had been informed about the incident. His body was sent to the city morgue for an autopsy and no case had been registered till the filing of this report at 11pm. GUNNED DOWN:

A man allegedly shot dead his mother-in-law over a domestic row in Shahdara on Tuesday.Waris Ali of Miraj Park had differences with his wife Razia and she had been living with her parents for the last couple of months.

Razia's mother and father visited the Miraj Park house of Ali on Tuesday and asked him to reconcile with his wife.

Both sides exchanged words before Ali got furious and opened fire at Manzooran, killing her at the scene.

Police shifted her body to the city morgue for an autopsy and registered a case against Ali, who fled the scene after the incident.
