KARACHI, March 15: A special court for Control of Narcotics Substance (CNS) on Tuesday acquitted a man in a drug case and directed the Sindh police chief to hold an inquiry into implication of  the accused in a false case.

Wali Mohammad was arrested for allegedly keeping one kilogram of hashish in Feb 2006 within the remit of the Aziz Bhatti police station.

The judge of the Special CNS court-II, Sanullah Khan Ghoury, exonerated the accused and ruled that the prosecution had been unable to produce any solid evidence against the accused and according to the facts that came up on record the accused was framed in the case on political grounds.

The court directed the provincial police officer to hold an inquiry and submit a report within a month.

A case was registered against the accused under Section 9-B of the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997. The accused was on bail.
