ISLAMABAD, Oct 10: Chief Election Commissioner Irshad Hasan Khan said here on Thursday evening that by and large the general elections had been peaceful and orderly, though in election-related firing cases four persons died and seven others were injured in seven different incidents in Sindh and Punjab.

Talking to APP after his return to the federal capital after a day-long inspection of polling stations in Attock, Rawalpindi and Lahore.

Some reports about scuffles or altercations between rival political parties’ workers were also received, but in the NWFP and Balochistan there was not a single case of any election-related incident, he said.

During his visits, the Chief Election Commissioner asked polling agents of different contesting political parties if they faced any hurdle in the electoral process, to which they said they confronted no problem and the polling was orderly and smooth.

The CEC cast his vote at a polling station in Jauhar Town, in NA-128, Lahore.—APP
