KARACHI, March 11: Tennis maestro Aqeel Khan who played an important role in Pakistan's recent 3-2 triumph over Hong Kong China in the away Davis Cup Group II first-round tie, has confirmed to feature in the Rs75000 Super Series ranking tennis championship which runs at the City Sports Complex from March 22 to 29.

Other prominent players who have so far confirmed their participation include Jalil Khan, Yasir Khan, Nomi Qamar, Nasir Mushtaq and Sara Mansoor (Islamabad).

The events that will take place are men's singles, ladies singles, juniors' under-17 singles, boys' and girls' under-15, under-13, under-11 and under-9 singles and juniors' under-17 doubles.

The STA has decided to do away with the pro-set scoring system in all qualifying and main rounds from now onwards with the exception of boys' and girls' under-13, under-11 and under-9 singles.

“All qualifying and main rounds will be played of proper best of three sets,” STA secretary, Khalid Rehmani, said on Friday.

All outstation players of the main draw will be entitled to get a daily allowance of Rs300 until elimination and economy class railway fare.

Meanwhile, outstation players, coaches and ball boys are exempted from entry fee.

Last date for the submission of entries is March 20. Saeed Ahmed has been named the organising secretary.
