PPP to agitate in case of rigging

Published October 10, 2002

RAWALPINDI, Oct 9: People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP) here on Wednesday warned of agitation if government agencies resorted to rigging during Thursday’s parliamentary polls.

Speaking at a press conference, PPP leader Qazi Sultan Mehmood said his party had shown tolerance towards pre-poll rigging, but it would not be possible in case of actual rigging on the polling day.

He said the party candidates had strictly observed the election code of conduct, but their opponents, particularly Sheikh Rashid’s independent panel, had violated it without any check by the Election Commission.
