SUKKUR, Feb 28: A five-foot part of main Sui gas supply pipeline was blown up near the village of Muhammad Bux Malik near Thull on Monday, creating a crater of 50 feet.

According to technical staff of Sui gas, it was an act of terror because something had been thrown, damaging more than 150-feet pipeline which was coming from Dadu and, through Sui, going to Punjab.

Chief Engineer Qazi Anwer Kerio of Sui Southern Gas, Shikarpur Region, said that gas supply had not been suspended at any place because alternate arrangements had been made.

He said that despite police patrolling, attacks on gas pipelines had become a routine.

The chief engineer said that police accused the Sui Gas authorities that incident had taken place due to pressure on weak pipelines.

He rejected the police version and described the incident as an act of terror.

According to area people, three motorcyclists were seen near the Sui gas pipeline and when they left, the gas pipelines blown up.

According to the local reporters of the area, a piece of five feet pipeline was blown up while damages occurred at different spots and 50-foot crater occurred there near the village of Muhammad Bux Malik in the early hours on Monday.
