LAHORE, Feb 28: Gilgit Baltistan Scouts won the National Ski Championships while Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force claimed second and third position respectively in the competition held at the PAF Ski Resort Naltar, Gilgit.

According to the information received here, PAF’s Mohammad Karim won the first position in the giant slalom event, followed by team-mate Sher Afzal and Abdul Baqi of Gilgit Baltistan Scouts, who earned second and third position respectively.

Army’s Mohammad Iqbal clinched the first spot in the slalom event while Mir Nawaz Junior and Mir Nawaz Senior of Gilgit Baltistan achieved second and third position respectively.

Eighty-six skiers of thirteen teams from all over the country competed in the national championships featuring slalom and giant slalom events.

All ski associations of Pakistan including those of Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, Alpine Club of Pakistan, Civil Aviation Authority, Northern Areas Ski Scouts/Gilgit Baltistan Scouts, Northern Areas, Gilgit Baltistan, Adventure Foundation of Pakistan, Army and PAF participated in the championships.

The Adventure Foundation of Pakistan team was declared winner of Shah Khan Cup, also held at Naltar.
