HYDERABAD, Oct 8: A six-member European Union observer group on Monday was briefed by the Regional Police Officer, Abdul Rauf Yousufzai, about security arrangements for the polls.
The group was apprised of police deployment in various sectors of the seven districts of the Hyderabad region (the defunct Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas divisions).
Deployment of police personnel at sensitive polling stations was also explained to the EU delegation.
The observers were also given a briefing about the reserve police communication network as well as about the deployment of Rangers.
Later, the observers expressed their satisfaction and appreciated the police efforts.
They also appreciated the security cover extended to them.
APPLICATIONS: The Medical Superintendent, Liaquat University Hospital, Hyderabad/Jamshoro, has invited applications from male candidates for the posts of dispensers, anaesthesia technicians, dialysis technicians for training courses to be held in 2002- 2003.
Interested candidates, having matriculation in science with 45 per cent marks, with ages between 16 and 24 years on 21-11-2002, are eligible for admission.
The course for dispensers will be offered to the candidates of the Hyderabad district, and candidates from all over Sindh, except Karachi, may apply for the remaining courses.
The written test will be held at the New Lecture Hall, city branch, Hyderabad on Nov 11 at 9am.
JUSTICE OF PEACE: The Sindh government has appointed Lion Turab Ali Khoja as the justice of peace within the limits of Hyderabad for three years.
CERTIFICATES: The Institute of Women Development Studies (IWDS), University of Sindh, the other day organized a certificate distribution ceremony for the girls, who had attended various short courses and training programmes.
Prof Mariam Sultana Noohani, who was the chief guest on the occasion, appreciated the IWDS for arranging non-formal education courses for girls and said it would help improve the living standard of girls and their families.
The dean, faculty of social sciences, Prof Iqbal Ahmad Qureshi, presided over the function.
