QUETTA, Feb 24: A driver was killed and two people were injured in an attack on a Nato trailer near Wadh area of Khuzdar district on Thursday evening, police said.

The trailer was coming to Karachi after delivering supplies to Nato forces in Kandahar when assailants opened fire on it near Wadh area. Three people on board, including the driver, were wounded.

Police shifted the injured to a nearby hospital where the driver died, the sources said.

“The attackers were on motorcycles,” police officer Jumma Khan said.

In a separate strike earlier, two oil tankers carrying fuel for Nato forces in Afghanistan were attacked and torched by gunmen near Dhadar area, some 140km from here in the Bolan district.

Police said that unidentified assailants on motorbikes opened fire at the Kandahar-bound tankers coming from Karachi in Dhadar area and set them on fire after they stopped.

“Both tankers have been completely gutted,” a senior police officer said.

The sources said that drivers and other people on the tankers escaped unhurt in the attack.
