LAHORE, Feb 24: Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Rao Sardar Ali has suspended from services the Sherakot SHO, muharrar and a constable for negligence.

The DIG awarded punishment to SHO/Inspector Hasnain Haider, muharrar Iqbal Nasir and constable Muhammad Tanveer during his surprise visit to the Sherakot police station on Thursday.

He found the police station record incomplete and some other irregularities.

Out of the 11 accused arrested in different cases, three were engaged in cleaning and other work outside the lockup.

On inquiring, the SHO informed the DIG that the three people were laborers hired for some work in the police station. The DIG checked the record that verified that ‘laborers’ were the accused.

Similarly, he also found three other accused in another room of the police station.

Some citizens, on the occasion, complained to the DIG that they repeatedly visited the police station to get their complaints registered but they were always told that the SHO was in the ‘field’.

The DIG admonished the SHO for his acute negligence and directed SSP (Operations) Faisal Ali Rana to hold an inquiry to decide maximum punishment to three police officials.
