MIRAMSHAH, Feb 21: Ten people were killed and another four injured on Monday night when a US drone attacked a suspected compound in Miramshah, the headquarters of North Waziristan tribal region.

According to sources, two missiles hit the place in village Tappi, 15km from Miramshah.

Reuters adds: Local officials said that at least 11 people were killed in the attack on Monday.

Many analysts believe Washington halted the attacks for weeks to avoid further inflaming anti-American fury in Pakistan just as it pressures Islamabad to release Raymond Davis, an undercover CIA contractor imprisoned after shooting two Pakistanis last month.

Others speculate the pause was due to poor weather or an inability to find reliable targets as militants hunt down Pakistanis they believe are passing intelligence information.
