GHALLANAI / KALAYA, Feb 20: Thirty-one militants were killed and another 31 injured in clashes with security forces in different areas of Mohmand and Orakzai tribal regions. In Orakzai Agency on Sunday, security forces attacked a hideout of militants near Dabori area, killing 11 militants and injuring six others, officials said.

However, independent sources confirmed the death of three militants.

Four hideouts of militants were destroyed and arms and ammunition seized during the operation, the sources said, adding the offensive was launched despite heavy snowfall in the area.

In Baizai tehsil of Mohmand Agency near the Pakistan-Afghan border on Saturday night, militants attacked a security checkpoint.

The sources said that security forces, having already been tipped off about the militants' plan, repulsed the attack. Twenty militants were killed and 25 others injured in the clash that lasted three hours, the sources said.

The militants retreated, leaving behind their weapons.
