VEHARI, Feb 20: The stage set for a bride's wedding proved her deathbed when one of the 'guests' opened fire on her at Mailsi tehsil's Mauza Wahin locality on Sunday.
Reports said Zubaida Bashir, 18, was brought to the stage for her marriage with her cousin, Muhammad Tariq, when a woman shot her. The assailant escaped immediately thereafter.The Saddar police launched investigation and suspected that Zubaida's another cousin Mumtaz, who wanted to marry her, might be involved in the crime. A source said the girl's family had turned down Mumtaz's proposal to Zubaida to marry him.
The body was sent to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy.
