ISLAMABAD, Feb 14: A student of Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) got a robbery complaint filed with the police against an employee of the Iraqi embassy after the latter caught him with a girl in the wooded area near the institution, police said on Monday.

MYK from QAU’s international relations department reported to the Secretariat police that four persons robbed him of Rs50,000 by introducing themselves as officials of a security agency.

The student alleged that he was intercepted by the group riding a white Toyota Corolla near the university’s lodges.

He said the men sought his physical search on suspicion during which they snatched the cash at gunpoint.

The police reached the university and took a written complaint from him but got suspicious when he rejected the police request to make the girl, who was accompanying him at the time of the alleged incident, as an eyewitness.

He told the police that she was his relative and had come to the university for taking admission.

After about three hours, the car was spotted by the police at a picket near the university.

The police took the two persons riding the vehicle into custody and shifted them to the police station. On their information, their two colleagues were also arrested from Naril village.

During interrogation, one of them introduced himself as MS, a local employee of the embassy of Iraq, and said he had gone to the university to drop his friend who worked there.

He said near the lodges, they spotted a couple and approached them. MS told the couple that this was a university where they came for studies. In the meantime, some labourers also reached there.

However, the student started using indecent language and threatened him; MS told the police, adding shortly afterward he and the labourers left the spot leaving the couple  behind.

The embassy employee also brought the labourers to the police station for verification of his statement.

The Secretariat police called the student to the police station and when pressed, he started making lame excuses and avoided identifying the embassy official and his friends.

Later, he tendered an apology in writing when told to bring the girl to the police station.

The police said a case was registered against the student for filing a fake complaint against an innocent citizen.

The case report will be submitted to the court of law for legal action against the student.
